The floor-length windows of the palace are open to the garden today, and the redolence of roses wafts into the parlor, heady and sweet amongst the myriad floral perfumes and musky colognes of the silk-swathed nobility.
Down the marble stairs, through the perfectly manicured gardens, there is another palace, set higher than the main grounds of the Château de Celedis, closer to the Heavens. The sun sinks below its glittering white walls, ringing it in a halo and setting the rest of the palace in shadows.
As you mount the last of the steps, the rose-wreathed doors open for you, bathing your silks in golden light.
