About Across the Mana Sea

All faenriin have a familiar. All real faenriin. Yet Attel has spent decades offering treats to cats without one twitching an ear.

When a ship sails into port carrying only bodies, their misfortune turns into Attel’s chance. She joins the return expedition, hoping to find her familiar in the Land of Dragons.

But the voyage is as far from perfect as she is. Shipwrecked on the shore, Attel reaches out to her savior, a man who commands the ocean itself. His breath is shallow, and his skin is as cold as the waves that nearly swallowed her.

Nev’eirys is powerful, mysterious, and bound to Attel by magic that neither understands. He takes Attel to Eirenos, the capital of the peaceful dragons, where their bond becomes as impossible to ignore as her growing desire for him. Yet just as Attel starts to settle in, the safety of her new home is threatened by dragons who worship strength above all—including the one that killed her entire crew.

In the Land of Dragons, every step is haunted by tragedy and sanctuary has its price. As the tides of tensions rise higher, Attel and Nev’eirys must decide if their bond is simply survival, or if it’s worth reshaping the world for.

About Me

Hi, I’m Lily!

I wrote my first “novels” in the fifth grade in wide-ruled notebooks—the whole notebook, front and back, I was proud to say. Over the years I continued to imagine worlds, whether it was writing stories about my Neopets, daydreaming about my current favorite anime or video game, or working on my first real novel, a young adult book destined only for a folder tucked deep in my computer.

In my late 20s, I returned to writing more seriously, starting to refine the world-building of a world I had first imagined in my preteens. It was through combining this world with the main character of my very first “novel”—that whole notebook!—that Across the Mana Sea was born. Naturally, the world and the stories I tell in it have changed immensely since my childhood, but those original versions still have a special place in my heart.

Outside of writing, I enjoy losing myself in video game worlds, music, parks, and definitely reasonable amounts of coffee. I’m originally from California, but I moved to France to live with my partner after the passing of my mother. It’s to her, my first and staunchest supporter, and to my partner Pierre, who pushes me to continue even on my roughest days, that Across the Mana Sea is dedicated.
